A Message from our President

The next meeting of GLAMA will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church on West 3rd Ave. at 10:30.
Our program will be a police officier from the City of Lexington speaking to us about church security, lighting, locks, how to handle folks who stop in asking for money during Sunday services.
Please attend and invite your trustees or building and grounds folks to learn more about protecting God's property and buildings.
Looking forward in seeing you as the New Year begins for us.

Grace Awakening Weekend

Vacation Bible School Partnership

The First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Lexington are joining forces to offer Vacation Bible School for 2013. This is the third year that FUMC and FPC have collaborated on VBS. Leaders from both churches have been meeting over the last few months to prepare an energetic and fun time of learning. The joint effort ensures larger participation and excitement from the children.
This years Joint VBS will be held at First United Methodist Church from Monday, June 24 - Thursday, June 27. Start time is 12 noon. Pre-registration is requested and can be done through Tara Snow (336) 248-2886 or Meredith Trout (336) 248-2140.

Re-Elected!!!

The Rev. Donnell Fitzjefferies, pastor of St. Stephens and Brooks Temple United Methodist Churches, was re-elected president of the Greater Lexington Area Minister's Association on Wednesday May 8, 2013. Donnell's third year as president commenced with the vote. The Rev. Lee Zehmer, pastor of First Presbyterian, Lexington, was re-elected for the third year as treasurer. Misty York, Chaplain at Hospice of Davidson County, was elected secretary.

PALM SUNDAY PARADE CANCELLED!!!

Due to the impending cold, windy, and rainy Palm Sunday forecast, the Greater Lexington Area Minister's Association has decided to cancel this years Palm Sunday walk to the square.
We look forward to the later Palm Sunday date of April 13th for 2014.

Touching Davidson County With Love

The seventh annual day of outreach in our community will be on Saturday, April 13, 2013. On this day church members from as many as 11 different churches will go out into Lexington / Davidson county to fix porches, build handicap ramps, visit the shut-in, clean up yards, and many other things for people in our community who need a helping hand.

A steering committee made up of liaison's of participating churches are putting together a list of projects to be accomplished. Each church will work on 2 to 3 projects on TDCWL day. Community Lenten Services

We will once again host a series of Wednesday noon-time services during the season of Lent. First United Methodist Church, 400 South Main St. will be the venue. These services last ½ hour and are followed by a meal catered by On-time Catering. Each week, a different denomination is responsible for the service. The cost of the lunch is $6.
